Every dollar of that prize money was earned on the water. Some of the anglers who won it handed their winnings straight back to the mission. We do not name them and they have not asked us to — but it happens more than you would expect, and the credit is theirs.

The Harry A. Bateman Memorial Derby raises and donates money directly to The Jimmy Fund. That is the derby's own fundraising, separate from ours, so it is not counted here. The figures above are only what Kindlewood Cares raised and gave.
Why raised and given are different numbers
Anglers compete for a prize pool and the best of them win it — that is what makes it a tournament and not a donation drive. The rest of the difference is the cost of existing.
Most of what we take in goes back out to the anglers who earned it. What is left after that covers our Florida registration, this website, postage and the software we run on. We have no paid staff, no office and no salaries.
Some winners fish hard, win, and then hand the money straight back to the mission. When they do we count it as a donation, because the credit is theirs and not ours.
We report giving by period and by recipient rather than by individual transaction, and we do not publish account balances or the details of individual anglers' winnings. The full detail is available to any donor, member or partner who asks — just get in touch.
